Product Associate, Asset Allocation
The Product Associate will work with senior product managers on PIMCO’s asset allocation and broad investment solutions initiatives.
The product management team is responsible for product positioning across PIMCO’s global distribution network, fund design and construction, competitor analysis and pricing. As product specialists, product associates are also responsible for internal and external communication of strategy performance and attribution, as well as investment outlook and strategy.
This position reports to an Executive Vice President, Product Manager, and is based in Newport Beach, CA.
Internal Relationships
The Product Associate must build solid internal relationships and partnerships with portfolio managers, account managers, account associates and marketing, communications and compliance professionals.
External Relationships
This position requires frequent interaction with clients, prospects, consultants, custodians and trustees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
An undergraduate degree in Math/Statistics, Business, Economics, Finance or other related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a CFA designation and a quantitative background.
Experience
Two to four years of investment experience is desired. The ideal candidate will have prior asset allocation, investment management, hedge fund, investment banking or investment consulting experience.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Product associates respond to day-to-day product questions, perform ad-hoc analysis and research, produce regularly scheduled analysis and reports and work on longer-term strategic projects.
This position requires a dynamic professional who can:
· Perform detailed portfolio research and quantitative analysis with Excel, and Bloomberg. Should have the ability to become familiar and fluent in other analytical and statistical programs.
· Perform performance attribution and write market commentary, investment outlook and strategy on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis.
· Work with the product management team to develop and maintain a variety of different types of materials to support new business development, existing business and other specific product management initiatives and responsibilities.
· Work with technology and programming groups as a product expert on the development/improvement of attribution programs and other technology related projects.
· Serve as a product specific contact internally, and as appropriate, externally.
· Work with the product management team on new product development, including private and public fund vehicles.
· Utilize the firm’s internal resources to respond to client, prospective client, and consultant product specific requests for information, requests for proposals, and other inquiries in a timely manner.
