FYI on the FBI

If you’re the type who gets an adrenaline rush when you see the “good guys” catch their man in films and television, the type who can watch The Untouchables over and over again and never tire of it, the type who longs to join the most famous public law enforcement agency in the world (and, no, I’m not talking about the KGB), then stop typing and go to www.fbijobs.gov now! That’s right, folks. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is recruiting.

Ladies: Think about how cute you’ll look in your FBI cap, a la` Agent Starling. Gents: What better way to meet women than follow in the footsteps of Tommy Lee Jones chasing Harrison Ford in The Fugitive? If you’re bored by the daily grind of the working world and you just can’t get jazzed about moving up the corporate ladder, maybe the FBI is not just a pipe dream after all.

If you’re fluent in Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog or Hebrew — just four of the 40 languages for which the FBI needs linguists — there could be a dream job for you. If you’re bored enough at your present job, it might even be motivation enough to learn a new language via the same software that NASA and West Point use: www.rosettastone.com.

They’re also looking for people to join their Hostage Rescue Team (HRT). HRT is on the leading edge of protecting America by investigating terrorist threats against the United States. This could be a great career path for you if you’re ex-military or local law enforcement.

And, of course, the FBI is looking for Special Agents. If you qualify, you could be the next Skully or Mulder. Sounds cool, huh? Okay, here comes the reality check: To qualify, there are stringent physical requirements, so desk jockeys and couch potatoes need not apply. Click here, www.fbijobs.gov/1113.asp, to see if you’ve got what it takes to be Special Agent material. That desk job is looking better all the time.
